Jose Mourinho insists no team will be happy to get Manchester United in Champions League knockout stages

Every team in Europe will be scared of facing Manchester United in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, according to Jose Mourinho.

Th Reds sealed their route into the round of 16 with a 2-1 home victory against CSKA Moscow thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford. Man United finished as Group A winners after 15 points from six games, a number of impressive performances and goals aplenty.

Mourinho was pleased with the professionalism of the performance, coming in between a crucial away trip to Arsenal, which United won 3-1 fantastically, and the Manchester derby on Sunday. There were no injuries, and United deserved their win.

There’s no European action until February now, but Mourinho was questioned about the draw after Tuesday night’s game.

“I am not the luckiest guy with draws, it is better I shut up and I forget it because we only play in February,” Mourinho said.

“Until then I have to concentrate on the English competitions, I think it doesn’t matter the team we get in the draw.

“That team will not be jumping with happiness to play against us. I don’t think so.”

United could be drawn against European heavyweights Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Juventus despite topping their group due to that trio of clubs finishing second in their respective groups.

But it’s not simply a matter of getting a better team in the draw, finishing top of the group was a must for United given the other sides in Group A, and they did it comfortably with their best points tally in the group stages since they won the Champions League for the third time back in 2008.
